the Latest and Greatest

Time for an update of the latest and greatest about Betty. She is 7 months old and still changing every day. Since my last post, Betty's six month check-up came and went. At her appt. she weighed 15 lbs. and 11.5 oz. She was 26 inches long. Since then she has definitely grown some more. She sits up really well. She isn't crawling yet but she rolls over lots and lots. She just recently started "army crawling." She can get all the way across the room by rolling and scooting.

Photo time, I will say that the spot I pick in the house to take her monthly photos maybe isn't the best. She does best if I take her photo in the morning but then the sun comes in the blind and shows in the pictures. I've tried raising the blind and then the window frame creates the shadow, so in the end I just decided to ignore it. Consider it part of the charm of my non-professional photo taking. :)

Six month photos

Betty tried rice cereal first, as suggested by the doctor, and she didn't like it much.
It even gave her a rash/breakout on her face so we moved on to baby food.

This outfit and the kitty were two of the first things I bought before Betty was born.
I just thought the kitty went with the pajamas so well even though I got them from two different stores. I couldn't wait to see her wear them and now she does.

Betty had peas for her first food. She seemed to like them. I think sweet potatoes are her favorite so far.

In case you were wondering, yes those are Green Bay jammies and her bib says, "I live for football and the Green Bay Packers." This was, of course, a Sunday! :)

We went to a fall festival event at Earl May Garden Center. They had fun things for kids to do and plenty of cute places to take a photo, best of all it was free.

Aunt Carrie and Stella were there with us. Is Stella photobombing little Betty?

I love this one; it seems like Betty is looking at Stella and laughing with her.

Seven month photos.

Somebody wanted in on the photo shoot.

She did really well and I could have taken even more photos this time because she was really having fun. Of course, my memory stick chose that time to become full...

I hope to make my next post sooner. Betty and I plan to go to Night Eyes at Blank Park Zoo with Auntie and Stella next week. I can't wait to put Betty in her Halloween costume!

Cuter every day...

I know every parent probably feels this way about their own, but I swear my little baby gets cuter every day. She also seems to get bigger every day. Maybe I'm the only one but I wish they didn't grow so fast. I know there are great and fun things with every milestone but I really enjoy how adorable this baby stage is. It is also really sad when others tell you they don't even remember their child being this little even though they obviously were at one point. I don't want to forget how adorable this stage is even though we move on to another one. That is why I'm making my record of cuteness with my blog posts. I had originally hoped to post more often but I guess it looks like I will be updating about every two months or so; that seems to be how it is going so far.

My last post was just before Betty's four month visit to the doctor so I'll start with her stats from then. At her appointment she weighed 13 lbs. and 8 oz. and was 24.4 inches long. After this visit I said she officially weighs more than Trixie now.

Over the Fourth of July, Betty went on her first road trip to Wisconsin to visit her big sister and family. She did great in the car, much better than I expected. She even did great sleeping in the Pack n' Play which surprised me too, because she doesn't really sleep anywhere other than her bassinet and her swing when at home (besides Mom and Dad's arms).

Recently, she had her first visit to the Iowa State Fair. I plan to take her every year. Hopefully she will love the fair as much as Mom and Aunt Carrie do.

Now for the fun photos, there are a bunch because it was hard to choose which ones were the cutest (see above explanation, cuter every day). Also, one bonus to her growing up is her monthly photos are easier to take.

She just loves playing with her feet. There were several of her with her foot in hand.

I didn't pick the right time of day for this set because obviously there is some sun/shadow on these but adorable still.

This photo is from a carnival/fair that we went to in Wisconsin while we were visiting. Betty seemed to enjoy being out for a nice stroller ride even though that was the only ride she got. Unlike her, Betty's nephew Ty proved how grown up he is getting by riding the roller coaster all by himself.

Although I didn't get a picture of Betty with her sister, she did pose with Ty before we left. We got these photos of the two together. Ty said he would "sleep" since Betty was sleeping. Then the next one he just seemed to be talking to her and I'm not sure what her expression says she thinks about it.

I have so MANY pictures of Betty sleeping because she looks so sweet when asleep. I added this one because the lighting in this one makes her hair look really red! It isn't really red in person....yet.

Okay, I love this one. Not sure why, but Betty often has this startled look when I take a picture. I didn't even realize how many until I was looking through the pictures.

The plan was for me to hold Betty and pose together in front of this backdrop. However, she fell asleep before we could do our photo op. The excitement of her first fair visit must have worn her out.

Five month photos. The one below shows how pretty her eyes are.

Betty's fur sister Trixie. She recently got a fenced yard and is enjoying being able to lay out on the deck more and sit in the grass and bark at people passing by.

Finally an update!

Okay, it has been a REALLY long time since my last post. At first I was just trying to spend as much time as possible with Betty before returning to work. Then I started a summer class at Grandview and returned to work. I just didn't seem to find time to post. I'm sorry. Betty is 16 weeks old now and is growing fast. Her two month appointment has gone by and her four month one is coming up soon. At her two month check up Betty weighed 11 pounds 1.5 ounces and was 22.5 inches long. A few weeks after starting daycare, Betty got her first cold/congestion which led to her first ear infection! These were not exactly the firsts we were looking forward to. I got sick too and although Betty and I are almost back to normal, Keith seems to have gotten it now. Other firsts have been great! Betty started to coo and "talk" to us. Those coos have now turned into a cross between a coo and a squeal and she really loves to have conversations with us. She started to grasp things and is finally showing an interest in all the baby toys and rattles that she has. Just this past week she seemed to find her feet and they are her new favorite "toy."

I will try to post again soon after her four month visit. Betty will be going on her first big trip, up to visit her sister in Wisconsin. She is really excited!

Betty meeting Great Grandma

We love dressing Betty in yellow.

This must be really comfortable for her as she often sleeps with her arms like this.

You can tell what Betty thought of the doctor's office!

Betty in the Blooming Bath, despite what it looks like I think she likes it.

Two month pic. Adorable.

Betty loves to sleep in her swing.

Just too cute.

Her father's day outfit.

Another one I just find too cute...

6 weeks old!

6 weeks old!
Can you believe it? It's been over a month since I've posted, but you haven't missed much. Betty eats, sleeps, and .... well, you know. Other than doctor visits, we stay home each day. She is gettting bigger. At her two week appointment Betty weighed 8 lbs. 15 oz. and was 21 inches in length. She had to visit the doctor this past week because her belly button hadn't completely healed yet, and she weighed 9 lbs. 13 oz. on this visit. We've had a few visitors and would welcome any others. After her two month appointment and her first round of vaccinations, maybe I will be a little less leery of taking her out amongst the germs found out and about. It would help too if the weather would improve!

Above, Betty meeting her cousin Jenna.

At left, Betty meeting her cousin Lauren.

 Just an adorable picture!

                                                       First Easter Photos,
which bunny is cutest? the white one? the brown one? or the baby with bunny ears?

Betty's one month photos were actually taken a bit late, okay two weeks late....but Betty has had some terrible baby acne. I kept waiting for it to go away. It hasn't yet, but it does seem to be getting better. Years from now, I'll never remember that these weren't taken at exactly one month anyway.

One Week

It is hard to believe it, but a week has already gone by. Betty Ann arrived on Friday March 8 at 9:41 p.m. She weighed 8 lbs and measured 20.5 inches long.

I'm not much for sharing via Facebook but thought I might share some photos and stories of Betty here. Obviously the name of the blog is in reference to Betty, as it will be the place to see what she is up to and see photos on a regular basis (hopefully). So here are some to get started.

One of Betty's first photos

Trixie watching over her little sister.

Betty moves her legs a lot, so this playmat is perfect for her kicks.

She has tried out her swing too.

Snuggle time with Dad.

Taken tonight (3/15) at one week old.

I think she was saying, "That's enough pictures Mom! It's cuddle time."

My sister's favorite of Betty's hospital portraits.
